Students who wish to transfer into the Biomedical Engineering Graduate Program from another degree program within Texas A&M University should bring to the BMEN Graduate Programs Office the following Information:
1. An Office of Graduate Studies Petition. The petition has two parts. The first part should indicate your desire to change into the BMEN Master's or Ph.D. degree program. The second part should show why you now want a biomedical engineering degree and, in your thesis or dissertation, which aspect of biomedical engineering you would emphasize.
2. A copy of the original application into graduate school.
3. A copy of transcripts from all previous colleges and universities.
4. At least one recommendation letter.
For items 2 and 3, your current department should have copies. You can either bring us copies obtained from your department or ask them to mail the copies to us. The petition needs to be signed by the Biomedical Engineering Program Head and the Department Head of your current Department. If you already have an advisory committee, your entire committee must also sign the petition before our department does.
After the above items are given to the BMEN Graduate Advisor, it will be entered into our database and will usually be held and processed after the current semester's grades are obtained. The graduate advisor may also request a face-to-face interview. If there are conditions placed on your admission (e.g., pre-requisite courses), these will be noted on the petition. You should ask about the status of your petition a couple of days after the end of the semester.
