Biomaterials Lab

328E Zachry

The Biomaterials Lab in the Texas A&M Department of Biomedical Engineering is headed by Dr. Melissa Grunlan. This laboratory focuses on the preparation and characterization of novel polymeric biomaterials. A variety of synthetic strategies and materials characterization techniques are utilized to design polymers with targeted properties. Polymeric biomaterials are prepared in many different forms: homo- and copolymers, polymeric micelles, coatings, colloidal nanoparticles, hydrogels, and composites. Instrumentation used in this lab includes: dynamic mechanical thermal analysis (DMTA), dynamic scanning calorimetry (DSC), gel permeation chromatography (GPC), and ATR-FTIR spectroscopy.
